Victor Osimhen shines in Sporting Charleroi's defeat to Gent

Victor Osimhen was on the scoresheet in Sporting Charleroi’s 2-1 defeat to Gent in Friday’s Belgian First Division A.

After failing to secure a regular playing time with Wolfsburg, the forward teamed up with the Zebras on loan in the summer and has been impressive.

Making his eighth appearances in all competitions, the 19-year-old notched his sixth goal but was not enough to save Felice Mazzu’s men from suffering their sixth league loss this term.

The young attacker put his side levelled in the 42nd minute after Giorgi Chakvetadze’s earlier opener for the home team.

Chakvetadze then completed his brace in the 48th minute to seal the victory for Jess Thorup’s men.

Osimhen featured for the entire duration of the encounter while Mali forward Adama Niane was replaced by Ali Gholizadeh.

Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi was on parade for the last ten minutes for the home team after he was introduced for Roman Yaremchuk.

With the result, Sporting Charleroi are in the 14th spot in the log with 14 points from 12 games while Gent climbed to the fifth spot.

Charleroi  host Sint-Truiden in their next fixture while Gent travel to Stade Le Canonnier to face Royal Excel Mouscron on October 30 respectively.
