Francis Uzoho lauds Elche teammates after Malaga win

Francis Uzoho has praised his teammates after Elche secured a 2-0 victory over Malaga in Friday’s Segunda Division tie at Estadio Martinez Valero.

The 19-year-old - who played a key role in helping Nigeria secure back-to-back victories over Libya in a 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying doubleheader - made his debut in the Spanish second tier and impressed, keeping a clean sheet in the encounter.

Goals from Neider Lozano and Borja Martinez ensured that the newly promoted side return to winning ways after two consecutive defeats to Deportivo La Coruna and Cordoba.

And the youngster has taken to the social media to hail his colleagues for the ‘great performance’ while also acknowledging the fans for their show of solidarity in the tie.

“Great performance yesterday night guys, the fans, we felt your support throughout the game, plus three [points],” Uzoho posted on Instagram.

The win is their second this season which has moved them to the 14th spot in the log after garnering 11 points from ten games.

Uzoho will hope to get another opportunity to impress when Elche host Real Zaragoza in their next league game on October 28.
