2018-19 UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season: Goalkeepers - Marc-Andre Ter Stegen

The German was absolutely brilliant for Barcelona in the UCL last season and is deservedly in our team of the season...

Barcelona have always had a stellar attacking cast which consists of the mercurial Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and now Antoine Griezmann. However, their defence isn't that bad either.

But the star man in their rearguard has to be none other than their custodian Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

The German joined Barcelona for €12 million in 2014 and has gone on to cement his spot as the first choice goalkeeper, winning a host of trophies int he process.

It was no different in the previous UEFA Champions League season as well, with Ter Stegen shining in Barcelona's run to the semifinals where they were beaten by eventual winners Liverpool FC.

Whenever Barcelona's defence came under pressure or were beaten, Ter Stegen was present to thwart their opponents with brilliant saves which showcased his excellent reflexes. However, his most important contribution would be his involvement in Barcelona's possession-based build up play.

Always comfortable with the ball, Ter Stegen is a vital part of Barcelona and it was the same last season.

No wonder the German makes our 2018-19 UEFA Champions League squad of the season.
