Twumasi scoops Astana Player of the year award

The forward picked two awards on Friday night to cap off a successful season in Kazakhstan

Ghana striker Patrick Kojo Twumasi was named FK Astana best player of the 2017 season on Friday.

The 23-year-old was in top form in the last campaign as his efforts helped the club win the Kazakhstan Premier League. He scored 13 goals in 30 league games.

His strike against Ordabashy was voted by supporters as the best goal of the season. The Black Stars forward has also scored three goals in the Europa League.

"I'm excited with these awards and hope to achieve much more than this next season," Twumasi said.

"Thanks to my wife, teammates and fans for the love and support throughout the season. We hope for the best in the seasons ahead," he added.

Twumasi, who is an integral part of Kwesi Appiah's rebuilding squad ahead of the 2019 Afcon, has won four Kazakhstan Premier League titles since joining Astana in 2014.
