AFC Leopards could severe ties with midfielder Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth just few months after he signed for the club.

Ingwe official Oscar Igaida has confirmed to Goal that they have served the controversial midfielder with a show cause letter why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

The embattled midfielder was served with a seven-day notice for missing team’s training session away in Madagascar, a situation that now leaves him staring at a lengthy ban if found guilty.

'Gattuso' also risks losing up to half of his monthly wages if he fails to put up a proper case before the club’s disciplinary committee next week.

‘Gattuso’ reportedly skipped the team’s training session as Ingwe were preparing to take on Fosa Juniors in the return leg of Caf Confederation Cup.

“Gatusso has not faced the disciplinary committee yet, we have asked him to write to us and show cause why the club should not take action against him. After that, we will then sit and take the next step.

“If found guilty of any wrong doing, then the club may take disciplinary issues on him, including a suspension with a half salary, but the termination of the contract is the last resort.

“The club can only be forced to terminate his contract if he repeats the same mistakes severally. That is the last resort, but he can be suspended for a season without pay,” Igaida told Goal.

‘Gatusso’ was drafted into the travelling team but was axed from the match-day squad after he fell out with the already suspended head coach, Robert Matano on match-day.

‘Gattuso' signed a one and half year contract last January. Igaida also denied reports that the player has asked to quit The Den and explained that it is the club that wrote a letter to him, demanding for an explanation of what transpired in Madagascar.

This comes a few hours after the club asked coach Matano to step aside for the weekend’s game against Sony Sugar. Matano is expected to appear before the club’s management Committee next Tuesday to ‘answer to a few questions.’
