Tigres set to sign Enner Valencia as player arrives in Mexico

The former West Ham attacker's return to Liga MX will be announced soon with Los Felinos bringing the Ecuadorian into an already dangerous attack

Enner Valencia is in Mexico and set to sign for Tigres, leaving West Ham to return to Liga MX.

Osorio suspended six matches

"Enner Valencia arrives to the city to undergo medical exams and chat with the Tigres' directors," a team tweet read Thursday with the official announcement expected to come as early as Friday. Valencia was spotted going through his medical tests Friday morning.

Valencia starred in Liga MX during his brief stop in Pachuca, winning the Golden Boot with 12 goals in the 2014 Clausura regular season. He scored a hat trick in the second leg of the quarterfinals against Pumas but managed just one goal in the semifinal series as Tuzos fell to Santos.

He then moved to West Ham, but after a quick start he saw his time there hampered by injuries. He was loaned to Everton for the 2016-17 season but scored just three times in 21 appearances.

Defensive midfielder Guido Pizarro left Tigres training Thursday with a move to Sevilla set to follow but Valencia will have plenty of competition in the Tigres attack. Andre-Pierre Gignac, Eduardo Vargas, Javier Aquino and Jurgen Damm are still with the team after their runner-up finish last season, though all four have been the subject of transfer rumors themselves.
