Speaking in the press conference following their 2-0 win over hosts Selangor in their Malaysia Cup Group D match, Pahang boss Dollah Salleh expressed his relief over the way his charges performed.

Prior to the match, the Elephants had been winless in two matches, including a shock 2-1 defeat to bottom side Kelantan on the last 2018 Super League matchday, a result that meant they failed to finish as league runners up.

"Praise Allah, I'm relieved with the way things turned out tonight. Tonight the team played the way that they can actually play, and I'm satisfied with every single department.

"After our [FA Cup] final win, they had struggled to perform well but tonight they were at their best again. I hope they will maintain it and avoid being complacent like they had after lifting the cup," remarked the former Malaysia international and head coach.

When asked about the availability of forward Patrick Cruz in their coming match, Dollah explained that the Brazilian is still a doubt.

The 25-year old had been sidelined since late May due to a lengthy injury, and in late July bizarrely became a victim of an assault while vacationing in the resort island of Perhentian, in Terengganu.

"Cruz needs probably one or two more weeks to be ready. I actually wanted to start with him tonight, but at the last minute he was still injured so I decided against it.

"Issey (Nakajima-Farran) too hurt his hamstring and had to be taken off, while Afif (Amiruddin) started for the first time after having been sidelined for injury for almost three months. And Afif played the full 90 minutes without any problem, and combined well in defence with Muslim Ahmad," he remarked.

The goals in the match were scored by Muslim (30') and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha (54'). The Elephants's next match will be away to PKNP FC, next Saturday.
