Yobe Desert Stars coach, Mohammed Babaganaru is thrilled with the output of his players in their pre-season games.
Having inherited a meagre 14 players from the squad that gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League, the new manager brought in over 20 new players to bulk up the Damaturu outfit setup ahead of their debut top-flight campaign.
And the former Wikki Tourists handler has lauded the efforts of his newly-assembled squad in tune-ups held in Kano.
“I will say that my players are really doing very well here in Kano. They have really surprised me with the way they have performed in the few games we have played. We shall be returning back home with happiness that we have accomplished our mission of coming to Kano,” Babaganaru told Goal.
“I want to state that our stay in Kano before the start of the pre-season has been worth it. We spent some days there immediately we finalized on the players we intended using for the season. I had wanted to come to Kano even before we got to know of the pre-season tournament there.
“We will go back to Damaturu regardless of how we finish after the first round games to see how much time we have left of our preparations.
Yobe Desert Stars have played four games in a pre-season tournament in Kano with five points accumulated including an impressive goalless draw against Enyimba on Tuesday.
