The Covert Agent: James Donachie set to leave Melbourne Victory for the K-League

Melbourne Victory's defensive stocks are set to be further depleted with centre-half James Donachie set to join K-League side Jeonnam Dragons.

The Covert Agent can reveal the 25-year-old has signed a pre-agreement with the Korean club and is set to undergo a medical on June 12.

It's understood Donachie will be replacing fellow Australian defender Tomislav Mrcela in the Jeonnam squad, who are struggling in 10th position on the K-League table with two wins in their last 16 league games.

The Queensland-born defender started his career at Brisbane Roar in 2012 before moving to Victory for the start of the 2016-17 season.

After recovering form injury last season, Donachie formed a crucial part of the Victory defence that won the A-League grand final against Newcastle Jets.

His departure leaves Kevin Muscat's squad with only two recognised defenders in Rhys Williams and Thomas Deng.
