Tampines Rovers
The Singapore Premier League outfit beat Indonesian opposition to start their AFC Cup campaign on a high

Highlights

How the game played out

5. We are underway at the Jalan Besar Stadium, with Tampines the stronger side in the early stages of the game. There have not been any chances of note yet, though.

24. GOAL!! Tampines take the lead and it had been coming. Yasir Hanapi creates the chance and Jordan Webb fires home from close range after a mix-up in the PSM defence to break the deadlock!

34. PSM threaten for the first time via Giancarlo after some good work from Sinaga, but Buhari is equal to his attempt and keeps the hosts in the lead.

HT. Tampines Rovers defend a 1-0 lead midway through and there's no arguing they deserve it. The SPL side have been the better side, dominating possession and having more shots on target. Can they hold on in the second half and start off with a win?

57. The home side are pushing for a second, but they are lacking accuracy in front of goal. This time it's Mohana who heads wide from close range. Just three shots on target from 12 attempts so far.

64. THERE IT IS: 2-0!!! Tampines escape when Giancarlo misses a good chance for PSM and then double their lead shortly after, the inevitable Kopitovic finding the net with a left-footed shot.

67. This one is not over just yet! It's Sinaga who pulls one back for PSM and makes it 2-1. Game on!

89. PSM are down to 10 men as Hasic is shown his second yellow game of the evening. That might kill off their hopes of getting a draw here.

FT. Tampines Rovers start off their AFC Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over PSM, Kopitovic's strike eventually proving the difference.

Preview

Tampines Rovers will welcome PSM Makassar to the Jalan Besar Stadium on Wednesday to contest their AFC Cup group stages opener.

The Singapore giants put up a good fight against Bali United in preliminary round 1 of the AFC Champions League, but were eventually beaten 5-3 after extra time and will now be looking to make a name for themselves in the AFC Cup instead.

The Mighty Stags also meet Kaya-Iloilo and Shan United in Group H, but start off with another Indonesian battle as they are looking for revenge after their defeat at the hands of Bali.

"We are all very excited to start our AFC Cup campaign," stated head coach Gavin Lee at Tuesday's pre-match conference.

PSM, meanwhile, saw off Lalenok United in the play-off round, with Ferdinand Alfred Sinaga netting an incredible four times over the course of the two-legged tie.

Head coach Bojan Hodak was in bullish mood ahead of Wednesday's encounter and was adamant his side are ready for the challenge ahead.

"Tampines are a team that have a lot of experience in the AFC Cup, but we are very much ready for the game," he stressed.
