Sundowns winger Morena relishes Caf Champions League challenge

The Brazilians will start their Caf Champions League title defence against Ugandan club Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC in Tshwane on Friday

Mamelodi Sundowns defender-cum midfielder Thapelo Morena is looking forward to playing in the Caf Champions League for the first time in his career.

“I am looking forward to the game because the last time they (Sundowns) won the Champions League I was not registered, but now I am going to be part of the team.

“I am willing to deliver more, as I have been delivering in the PSL,” Morena told the Sowetan.

“We want to win the cup again. If we get the cup, then, we’ll be making history again,” Morena said.

This year’s tournament will consist of four groups which are likely to feature African giants Al Ahly, Zamalek and TP Mazembe.

A win over the Ugandan champions KCCA will see the reigning Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions qualify for the group stages.

“It’s going to be a difficult game, but we are going to work hard to win the game. We hope for a win. I am sure they (Kampala) have been watching our games and they know what they are going to come up against,” Morena concluded.
