Steven Gerrard makes Lassana Coulibaly Rangers’ eighth signing

The Mali international has moved to Glasgow from France on a temporary deal

Rangers have announced the capture of Lassana Coulibaly on a season-long loan from French Ligue 1 outfit Angers.

The deal, subject to international clearance, makes the Mali international Steven Gerrard’s eighth signing for the Gers, ahead of his first managerial stint.

Ahead of last season, the 22-year-old joined Angers from Bastia and made 23 appearances, scoring a goal. Also, he has nine caps for his country.

“Rangers can today [Tuesday] announce the signing of Lassana Coulibaly on a season-long loan from French side Angers, subject to international clearance,” read a statement on club website.

“The 22-year-old makes an exciting eighth addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad as the manager strengthens his midfield options even further.

“The Mali international arrives in Glasgow as a talented prospect who has been a mainstay in Ligue 1 for the past three seasons despite his young age.”

Gerrard will be able to add Coulibaly to his Europa League squad, as they begin their qualifying campaign against Macedonian outfit, FK Shkupi on Thursday.
