The midfielder has returned to full training and will be considered for selection against the Premier League champions

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino hopes Dele Alli will be fit to face Manchester City on Monday.

The midfielder has been sidelined with a hamstring injury in recent weeks, but the Spurs boss is hopeful he will be fit to feature in the matchday squad after returning to training.

He missed games against Watford, Huddersfield, Cardiff and West Ham, along with all three of the club's Champions League games thus far, against Barcelona, Inter and PSV.

Alli has made only six appearances in all competitions, but he has scored two goals, against Newcastle in the Premier League and Watford in the EFL Cup.

And Monday's clash with City could see the 22-year-old make his return, however, as Pep Guardiola's side visit Wembley.

"Yes I think it's good news but we need to be careful," Pochettino told reporters.

"He started today with the group. Sure we hope he will be available for Monday but I'm not sure if we're going to put him in the squad or not."

Spurs will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing Champions League result against PSV earlier this week when they face the Premier League champions.

Leading 2-1 with under 10 minutes left, a rash Hugo Lloris challenge on the edge of the box saw Spurs reduced to 10 men.

Spurs, having lost to Inter and Barcelona, swiftly conceded an equaliser, effectively eliminating them from the Champions League at the group stage.

Following their clash with City, Spurs face West Ham in the Carabao Cup and Wolves in the league before their return to European action with the reverse fixture against PSV.
