Ghana Special Competition leading scorer Diawisie Taylor believes he has done enough time to earn a place in the Black Stars' squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt

The 19-year-old Karela United striker has been the discovery of the novelty league thus far, having netted eight goals to send his club second on the standings in Zone B after 11 rounds of matches.

According to media reports, Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah will be announcing his preliminary roster for the June 21 - July 19 championship on Monday.

"If l am to take some factors into consideration, l really deserve to be in the squad for the Afcon,” Taylor, who is expected to lead his club into a top-of-the-table clash against Hearts on Wednesday, told Angel FM.

“But all depends on the head of the technical team for if he calls me, fine, and If he doesn't, I'm okay.

"We then have to see what God has in stock for me with regards to the national team call-up

“It’s the prayer and aspiration of every player to don the national colours of his country
"If it didn’t happen at the targeted period in one's career, it must have no telling effect momentarily in one's outing as what may be ahead in the future will be enormous in his playing career.

"So, l am praying that l will soon get the opportunity to play for the national team.”

Ghana have been drawn against defending champions Cameroon, Benin and Guinea-Bissau in Group F of the Cup of Nations.
