The 21-year-old came from the bench to score as his side got humiliated before their home fans on Saturday evening

Sadiq Umar got his second goal in four matches for NAC Brenda as they bowed 3-1 at home to AZ Alkmaar.

The Nigerian replaced Mitchell te Vrede in the 61st minute before registering his name on the scorer’s sheet with five minutes to the end of the game.

Stijn Vreven’s men were a goal down in the 32nd minute after Alireza Jahanbakhsh put the visitors ahead. The hosts were dealt further blows when Guus Til and Mats Seuntjens increased the lead.

And with defeat now certain, manager Vreven threw the Nigerian into the fray and he justified his inclusion with the consolation strike.

The goal was Umar’s second in four games since joining the Rat Verlegh Stadium outfit on loan from AS Roma.

With this defeat, NAC move closer to the relegation zone with 20 points from 24 games in the Dutch topflight.

They travel to the Noordlease Stadium on Friday for their encounter with 13th-placed FC Groningen, with Umar expected to play a key role.
