The Senegal international was on song for the Reds against Manuel Pellegrini’s charges

Sadio Mane has become the first Liverpool player to score in three successive opening matches in the Premier League since John Barnes.

The former Southampton forward bagged a brace as Jurgen Klopp’s side thrashed the Hammers 4-0 in Sunday's English top-flight clash.

Mane made history at Anfield when he found the back of the net before the interval, after being picked out by James Milner to double his side’s lead.

And the Senegal international added to his tally in the 53rd minute, with an assist from Roberto Firmino to become the first Reds player to score in three consecutive opening duels since Barnes' feat between 1989-90 and 1991-92.

Liverpool top the EPL table on goal difference and will trade tackles with Crystal Palace on August 20.
