Hutting has signed a six-month contract with an option to renew beyond June this year, but his role will remain that of technical advisor at Amakhosi

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has responded to suggestions that Rob Hutting will soon replace Steve Komphela as head coach of the club.

According to Motaung, Hutting was only brought in to advice the technical team and work hand-in-hand with the rest of the coaches from the development structures.

"Just to clarify, Rob is not going to be taking over from Steve at any time as prophets of doom have suggested," Motaung told the media on Wednesday.

"Rob is here to advice the technical teams of both the first team and development," he emphasized.

Motaung went further to reveal that Amakhosi's relationship with Hutting started over six months ago, and that together with the chairman, Kaizer Motaung, and coach Komphela, they saw the need to bring the 62-year-old to the club for the next six months.

"The relationship with Rob started in June last year. We've been doing our research together with the chairman and the coach," revealed Motaung.

The departure of Conti Kubheka and later that of Doctor Khumalo left a huge gap, and Chiefs decided to bring in a suitable candidate to fill in the position, Motaung said.

He added that several candidates were interviewed for the position, but they were eventually impressed by Hutting.

"As you are aware, Conti Khubeka and Doctor Khumalo left [the club]. So, we needed to find a suitable replacement. We talked to several people and I think we found a suitable candidate for the role he needs to play as technical advisor," added Motaung.
