Goal understands that the player failed to impress coach Nikola Kavazovic who ordered that the club terminates his contract

About two weeks ago, AFC Leopards announced the arrival of Zambian midfielder Shedreck Chimanya.

The player, who had initially won four caps with the Chipolopolo, had signed a two-year deal with the former league champions. However, just last week, news of his dismissal hit the airwaves. It was unexpected considering the hype he had received before and after signing for Ingwe.

Goal investigated why AFC Leopards secretly released the player and a sourcy privy to happenings at the Den did not hesitate to share the reason. “Chimanya was not the kind of player we expected after signing him, he was just below our standards.

“He failed to impress the coach and the entire technical bench and we had no option but to let him go. It was embarrassing for the management after all that hype, but again it is a lesson.”

Ingwe will start the season with a league match against Kariobangi Sharks on December 8.
