Real Madrid must be better defensively – Toni Kroos

The German international wants his side to be defensively compact so that they do not leak in cheap goals…

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos stated that the team is doing a good job offensively but needs to improve at the back.

The reigning European champions only managed to register a 2-1 victory Viktoria Plzen wherein both teams had several opportunities to score.

“It was a well-deserved win, just what we wanted. Of course, we had a lot of good moments and we created a lot of chances, we should have scored a lot more goals: six, seven or eight. However, the flip side is that we could have conceded two or three goals and this is clearly something that we have to work on and improve.

“This is not what we wanted and we have to defend a little bit better but I think offensively we were good, creating a lot of chances. We played a good game but we must close out games stronger than we did here.”
