Angolan giants Primeiro Agosto edged Cuando Cubango 1-0 at home on Sunday to bag a third consecutive league title.
Jacques scored the all-important goal that saw Agosto finish the season on 57 points, three ahead of closest rivals Petro Atletico who were runners-up again last season.
Sunday was an intriguing final Matchday of the season with Agosto and Petro Atletico entering this round separated by just a point.
Agosto had destiny in their hands, needing just three points, and their slender victory brought them their 12th league title.
But it was a tricky situation, for Petro Atletico had to win and pray that Agosto lose or draw.
In the end, Petro Atletico were held to a 1-1 draw by Sagrada Esperanca, ending their campaign three points behind the champions.
Winning the league title capped a fine year for Primeiro Agosto who are in this season’s Caf Champions League quarter-finals.
Zoran Manojlović’s side return to the Caf Champions League again next season.
