The Chelsea forward has already scored seven times in eight Premier League games and odds suggest he could be on the way to winning the coveted award

Eden Hazard is the early frontrunner to win PFA Player of the Year after a stellar start to the season to lead Chelsea into the top three.

Having started the season as a 12/1 (13.0) chance, the Belgian is now just 6/4 (2.50) with bet365 to win the prestigious individual honour for the second time, adding to his award from 2014/15 when the Blues strolled to the title.

Hazard contributed 14 goals that season, his second-best Premier League tally, but could be on for his most fruitful season ever after netting seven times in his opening eight games to lead the Golden Boot race.

Indeed, the attacker has scored in five of his last six league outings and bagged a hat-trick against Cardiff, whilst in the EFL Cup he scored a late, solo winner at Anfield to knock Liverpool out of the tournament.

His talents don’t stop there, either, with his three assists the second-most in the Premier League – meaning he has directly contributed to 10 of Chelsea’s 18 goals this season.

Hazard has long been linked to a move to Real Madrid and those reports have resurfaced following his terrific start.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “We’re only in October and Hazard is already a mile clear in the betting.

“However, his backers will have their fingers crossed that he stays put during the January transfer window.”

The market also offers a host of players behind Hazard at 12/1 (13.0), with Harry Kane, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah all available at that price.

Only Salah of that talented quintet has previously won the award, which he did last season after scoring 32 times, and they all have work to do to close the gap on the brilliant Belgian.
