Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane remains mum on reports suggesting that Jose Ali Meza wants out at the club.
According to recent reports, the Venezuelan attacker, who joined Sundowns at the beginning of the season has grown frustrated with his apparent lack of game time at the club.
Meza has made just nine league appearances this season as Mosimane has preferred another one of his July/August transfer window signings Lebohang Maboe, in that advanced role, leading many to wonder whether or not Meza has a future at the club.
Nonetheless, when questioned regarding the reports, the 54-year-old mentor gave nothing away, suggesting that the same questions also be asked about Jeremy Brockie and Aubrey Ngoma, who have fallen down the pecking order.
“I am giving you names, and you ask about Meza, I mean guys, should I take Maboe out for Meza to play?” Mosimane asked of the media.
“Ask about others, be intelligent, you don’t want to ask about Brockie. Ask about Aubrey (Ngoma)… I mean really, at Sundowns you’ve got to play hey, you’ve got to earn your stripes, Maboe, are you happy with him, seven goals,” the reigning Coach of the Month for February expressed.
“Who scores seven goals, is he okay, a boy from Maritzburg. I mean really, give him credit,” he concluded.
Sundowns will be determined to walk away with a win and potentially book their place in the knockout phase, and while Meza is unlikely to start, Mosimane could have him on the bench.
The 27-year-old has scored two goals in the Champions League preliminary rounds but is yet to feature in the group stage.
