Orlando Pirates v SuperSport United: Kick off, TV channel, live score, squad news & preview

Milutin Sredojevic was given the whole of last season to rebuild the Buccaneers, and now he's expected to deliver trophies

Orlando Pirates have not won a major trophy in four years, but they are one of the teams tipped to do well this season.

They welcome SuperSport United to the Orlando Pirates on Saturday night with a place in the semi-finals of the MTN8 at stake.

Matsatsantsa are the defending champions, but they have not been convincing so far this season.

The Tshwane-based outfit has just appointed Kaitano Tembo as their new head coach, and while the former player has been with the club for almost two decades, he will need time to settle down.

However, time is not on his side as the management expects the team to win matches and add more trophies to their cabinet.

Squads & Team News

Position Missing players
Goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo (injured)
Midfielders Thabo Qalinge (injured), Luvuyo Memela (injured)
Striker Augustine Mulenga (flu)

Brilliant Khuzwayo recently underwent a successful surgery on his ankle, but he won't feature for the Sea Robbers until September, according to the club.

Siyabonga Mpontshane is most likely to start ahead of both Jackson Mabokgwane and Wayne Sandilands for this encounter.

Luvuyo Memela and Thabo Qalinge have also been ruled out of the clash against Matsatsantsa, while Augustine Mulenga will miss the match as he's struggling with flu.

Abel Mabaso is available for selection having served his two-match ban, and it remains to be seen if Sredojevic will give him a run on the day.

Potential Pirates XI: Mpontshane; Jele, Shitolo, Maela, Dube; Mlambo, Nyatama, Mako; Pule, Makola, Shonga.

SuperSport United have not reported any injury concerns in their camp.

They will rely on their experienced players to stop Bucs from running riot, while also looking to return home with a convincing win.

Thuso Phala usually performs when playing against Pirates, but the presence of Reneilwe Letsholoyane and Dean Furman will no doubt give the home side something to worry about.

Upfront, Tembo is likely to start with Evans Rusike, who hasn't really hit the ground since his move from Maritzburg United.

Phumlani Ntshangase has just joined Matsatsantsa from Bidvest Wits, and he could be handed a start on the day depending on his level of fitness.

Potential SuperSport XI: Williams, Kekana, Khumalo, Daniels, Bhasera, Modiba, Furman, Mokoena, Lakay, Rusike, Keene.
