After finishing third in the A-League with Melbourne Victory, Keisuke Honda has declared that's not nearly enough by his high standards as he eyes a finals run.
Victory will host Wellington Phoenix in an elimination final on Friday night with Honda set to play an instrumental role after having a relatively quiet April.
The Japanese star failed to score or pick up an assist last month as Victory had to settle for a third-place finish.
But settling isn't a word in Honda's vocabulary with the 32-year-old desperate to ensure his team make the most of the finals format which could still see the midfielder finish his stint Down Under as a champion.
"I'm not satisfied to finish third in the league," Honda told A-League.com.au.
"There's still a chance to become champion - we shouldn't waste this opportunity. I've been preparing my best.
"We have to win. We will make it happen."
Despite a successful individual career, club success has been hard to come by for Honda, who picked up four of his six pieces of club silverware in Russia with CSKA Moscow.
Expected to depart Victory at season's end, Honda is clearly keen to pick up his seventh club trophy and if his early season form is any indication, he may prove a hard man to stop.
Honda has scored seven goals and added five assists across his 18 A-League appearances with an injury at the turn of the year halting the Japanese star's momentum.
