No offers for Oblak as Alisson leads summer scramble for top goalkeepers

Atletico Madrid claim to have received no offers for Jan Oblak amid a summer transfer window which sees goalkeepers in high demand.

Big money is expected to spent on new No. 1s over the coming weeks, with Liverpool having got the ball rolling with a record-breaking £67 million ($86m) deal for Roma’s Alisson.

The Reds were reported to be considering Oblak as an alternative to the Brazil international, while the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea remain in the market for a proven performer between the sticks.

Goal has revealed that the Blancos are hoping to lure Thibaut Courtois from Stamford Bridge, forcing new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri into the market.

Oblak may be among the options considered, but for now no formal interest has been shown in the Slovenian’s services.

Atletico president Enrique Cerezo told Onda Cero on the exit rumours surrounding Oblak, who has a €100m (£87m/$118m) release clause: “Nobody has approached us for him.

“We have his situation under control and we are confident he will form an important part of our team for many years to come.”

For now, Atletico’s focus remains locked on possible incomings.

They have already enjoyed a productive summer, bringing in Thomas Lemar and Rodri from Monaco and Villarreal respectively, while World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann has committed his future to the club.

Cerezo added on the potential for more movement: “New signings? We will unveil Rodri on Thursday then Lemar on Friday, and we are working on more deals.

“We are receptive to possible deals and strengthening our squad.”
