Nkosi has backed his former coach to make his second spell with the national team count for good when speaking to Goal

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi says the return of Stuart Baxter as national coach will help stabilize the team.

“He has gained so much experience since his last stint because he has travelled a lot more and even coached the Finland national team. Most importantly, he will provide discipline amongst the players because we have had a problem with that with the previous coaches,” Nkosi told Goal.

It was Baxter, who handed Nkosi his national team debut in July 2005 against Guatemala and the retired midfielder scored.

“I think that Baxter will bring stability in the team and integrate both local and international players which has been the main reason why the team has suffered over the years because of a lack of respect for one another between players and coaches,” he said.

With the 2018 Fifa World Cup and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers his main task, Nkosi believes that Baxter will guide Bafana to both finals.

“I believe he is capable of doing that because he has got a nice mix of young and talented players at his disposal,” he stated.

“And because he is able to structure a team very well in all departments. I feel that he will be able to achieve success and qualify for the Nations Cup and World Cup,” Nkosi concluded.
