Newly-promoted Negeri Sembilan foreign signing Renārs Rode is eager to join his new club in their first season back in the Malaysian top tier.

Rode, a former Latvia international, was revealed to Goal as the Deers' final pre-season foreign signing for the 2018 season on Wednesday, during the team's 2018 squad launch in Seremban.

In a statement issued by his representative agency, the centre back remarked that he had to rush to join Negeri Sembilan for their pre-season friendly matches in Cambodia, after the recent holiday period.

“The last few days were crazy for me as I had to rush back to Latvia to collect my belongings, spend New Year’s Eve with my friends and family and return in time for our preseason tournament in Cambodia. It was madness but I am delighted to be joining a prestigious club like Negeri Sembilan.”

Rode is now eager to soak up the pressure from the fans, and to prove what he is capable of doing in the coming season.

“Well, I just don’t think about the pressure and focus on what I can do for the team. The Negeri Sembilan fans can expect nothing less than 100 per cent from me.

"I am more than happy to impart my international experience to the local players if the coaches and management want me to do so. Collectively, we must achieve the club’s targets this season,” noted the 28-year old.
