Ndumiso Mabena could join Kaizer Chiefs this week

The 30-year-old rediscovered his form at Dikwena after he was used sparingly at Bucs a few years ago

Goal has gathered that Kaizer Chiefs are working around the clock to sign Ndumiso Mabena before the end this week.

Mabena is currently a free agent having seen his contract with Platinum Stars expire last Friday (June 30).

A source close to the player has confirmed that a move to Amakhosi is on the cards, and that if all goes according to plan, Mabena will be at Naturena this week.

"The club is doing everything to sign him. The deal could be concluded this week. As you might be aware, Mabena is now a free agent. His contract [with Stars] expired last week Friday," the source told Goal

Mabena featured prominently for Dikwena last season, making 31 appearances in all domestic competitions.

He found the back of the net four times and claimed seven assists.

Should Mabena end up at Chiefs, he would be following in the footsteps of Siphelele Mthembu, who also played for both Orlando Pirates and Dikwena.

Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung previously shot down reports that the club was after the signature of Mabena.
