Moriri: Mamelodi Sundowns are the team to beat

Moriri is not surprised by Mamelodi Sundowns' recent success, saying it took Pitso Mosimane years of hard work to build the team

Former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Surprise Moriri has expressed his admiration for his former employers, and he strongly believes that they can win the league again this season.

“Sundowns are a good team and they were not built in one season. It took coach Pitso Mosimane a couple of seasons to build this great team,” Moriri told SunSport.

The 36-year-old went on to further elaborate that he believes the Brazillians are the team to beat.

“They’ve worked hard, and now they’re reaping the rewards. For me, they’re the team to beat,” he said.

Moriri, who spent over a decade at Chloorkop, also stated that he has already begun preparing for life after football by working on his coaching badges.

“I’ve been working on my coaching qualification to make sure I empower myself,” he confirmed.

He added: “When I have enough time and opportunity I’ll go for the A licence. I’ve been working on this, so that at the end of my career I’m left with more options of what to do. I’ve been working hard behind the scenes.”

The Matibidi-born star said the thought of retiring from professional football hasn't crossed his mind as yet, adding that he could consider being a player coach in the near future.

“Who knows, one day I could even become a player coach and when that time comes I’ll be ready,” Moriri concluded.
