Coach Michael Amenga has tipped the National Under 17 team to do well in the upcoming 2019 Africa U17 Cup of Nations Cecafa region Qualifying tournament.
The regional games are set to be staged in Tanzania between August 11, and August 26, 2018 and Amenga is upbeat that Kenya will pull the headlines in the games after taking the junior side through a rigorous training schedule for the past one week.
“With adequate preparations, I am confident that we can post positive results and better our performance at the Cecafa U17 Championships in Burundi,” the coach told the official KFF website
The youthful side went down fighting against KPL side Posta Rangers, but the tactician drew positives from the 5-2 lose on Wednesday.
“There has been steady improvement in the team both physically and tactically,” noted coach, perhaps drawing inspiration from the 0-0 draw with the Gor Mahia Youth side and a 2-1 win over Acakoro in the previous buildup matches.
Kenya is in Group B alongside Uganda, Ethiopia, Southern Sudan and Djibouti.
Group A comprises hosts Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, and Sudan.
The winner of the tourney will get a chance to represent the CECAFA region in the Africa U17 Cup of Nations set to be held in Tanzania in May 2019.
