A Joseph Esso double steered Hearts of Oak to a 2-1 victory over Ebusua Dwarfs in the Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee Special Competition on Wednesday, their first win after suffering two successive defeats.

The striker's goals in the Zone B matchday four fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium condemned The Crabs to their fourth reversal of the campaign. The Phobians have subsequently moved to fifth on the league table while Dwarfs, whose consolation came from Bright Luqman, still sit bottom of the log.

Wafa, meanwhile, have moved top of the zone following a 2-1 triumph over Karela United. Solomon Sarfo Taylor scored for the second week running, but goals from Augustine Boakye and Daniel Owusu secured all three points for the Academy Boys.

At the Nduom Sports Stadium, visiting Liberty Professionals held Elmina Sharks to a 0-0 draw. The result leaves the Scientific Soccer Lads second on the table, one point above the home side.

On Thursday, seventh-placed Inter Allies will host sixth-positioned Dreams FC in the last matchday game of the zone.

In Zone A, Abdul Fatawu Safiu registered a double to hand leaders Asante Kotoko a 2-1 win over Ashanti Gold in a top-of-the-table clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
