The former Asante Kotoko manager says Sudan want to achieve something better in the Chan tournament

Sudan head coach Zdravko Logarusic has praised his side's performance following their qualification to the quarterfinals of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Falcons of Jediane pipped Mauritania 1-0 to become the second country aside Morocco, to book their place in the last eight. They defeated Guinea 2-1 in the opening game and currently sit second in Group A with six points.

“We have done well so far. We are not here as tourists. We are here to compete,” Lugarusic said.

“I must congratulate Mauritania because they also have their chances but could not take them. Sometimes you have to be lucky a bit,” he added.

Mauritania coach Corentin Martins insists they will play for pride in the last group game against Guinea despite it being a dead rubber.

“On Saturday, I was disappointed with my forwards but today I cannot blame them.

“We competed and that will not change against Guinea because we have to defend the Mauritian flag,” he added.

Goal understands that Guinea coach Kanfory Bangoura has been sacked after losing his two games and assistant coach Ibrahima Sory Toure will take charge of the last game.
