The FA Cup third round has provided a Friday night Merseyside derby and Jurgen Klopp's side are big favourites to knock out the Toffees at Anfield

Friday evening sees Liverpool take on Everton in a blockbuster start to the third round of this season's FA Cup.

The hosts have enjoyed recent derby encounters against their local rivals. The Reds are on their joint-longest unbeaten run against Everton in all competitions and it's no surprise to see them favoured again here.

Match odds

dabblebet go 2/5 (1.40) about a Liverpool win in normal time after Jurgen Klopp's side picked up back-to-back victories against Swansea (5-0) and Leicester (2-1) in front of their own fans over the festive period.

Everton are available at 13/2 (7.50) to spring a shock and snap the Reds' 15-game unbeaten run against them in the process. The draw is priced at 7/2 (4.50) with dabblebet.

Team news

Virgil van Dijk became the world's most expensive defender when he arrived at Anfield for £75m and could make his Liverpool debut in this heated atmosphere, the Netherlands international is a 4/1 (5.0) chance to score and 14/1 (15.0) to break the deadlock with dabblebet. Klopp wouldn't be drawn on whether or not he would start Van Dijk, but both Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho are unavailable with the latter being heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this month.

Ross Barkley is approaching a return to first team action while long term absentees Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines and Ramiro Funes Mori remain side-lined.

The risk of rotation

After a hectic festive schedule, the question over squad rotation at this stage of the competition is always a tough one for punters to gauge.

However, with Sam Allardyce stablising Everton after their poor start to the season and Liverpool well in the hunt for a top four spot, we could see two competitive line-ups, even if they are not as strong as you'd expect for a Premier League clash between these sides.

A high-scoring derby clash?

One thing that is expected is goals, and plenty of them. dabblebet are Evens (2.0) that both teams find the net but over 2.5 goals in the game is a 7/10 (1.70) chance with the same firm.

Perhaps given the visitors' struggles up front this term and Liverpool's solid home defensive record the variation in those markets isn't going to be much of a surprise.

Tips and predictions

Everton's showings against Manchester United and Bournemouth don't bode well for their prospects at Anfield but the fact that this is a derby may galvanise the visitors. That said, Liverpool have the strength in depth to make changes should they need to and getting the hosts onside at a better price than 2/5 (1.40) looks the way forward.

That could be where the 21/20 (2.05) with dabblebet on a home win with over 2.5 goals in the game comes in. Each of the Reds' last 15 wins in all competitions this season have had at least three goals scored in them and while Allardyce's men are capable of contributing to a big score line, it should be Klopp's side that secure a spot in the next round of the FA Cup.

Liverpool to win and over 2.5 goals at 21/20 (2.05) for a 2pt stake with dabblebet
