Liga MX Goals of the Week: The best from Jornada 2 of the Clausura

There were 24 total goals in the second round of Liga MX with each of the nine contests giving fans at least one goal to cheer. Each week, Goal  takes you through the most magical moments of brilliance in a league that is never at a loss for excellent goals.

Honorable mention this week goes to Pumas' Nicolas Castillo, whose first of two goals Sunday was in the mix but missed out on our list. Here's the top three strikes for our money from the second weekend of the Clausura:

3. Ravel Morrison (Atlas) 1-3 vs. Pumas

Ravel Morrison's first Atlas goal of the season and second of his career came after Sunday's contest with Pumas was decided , but that shouldn't take any luster away from this free-kick golazo. The Englishman takes a short run-up and hits the ball over the wall, past goalkeeper Alfredo Saldivar and into the top corner to give his side some dignity in Sunday afternoon's defeat.

We also need to take into account how good the call is here. "Ravel is also there. Ravel hits it. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Gooooooooooooooool"

2. Fernando Navarro (Leon) 3-1 vs. Toluca

This goal capped off Leon's second victory of the two-week old season, and I think it'd be easy to lose in the shuffle. Take a second to appreciate how Navarro, a left back, gets into the box, kills the pass from Alvaro Ramos and assesses the situation before taking the shot. The shot itself, looping over goalkeeper Luis Garcia, is excellent with Navarro hitting the spot he'd targeted, but his move to get forward and thought process to pull it off also deserves praise.

1. Rafael Baca (Cruz Azul) 2-1 vs. Chivas

Rafael Baca takes possession just to the right of the center circle and sees all the green in front of him. He takes one, two touches with his right foot to move toward the box and then unleashes a left-footed bullet bound straight for the back of the net. The strike put Cruz Azul ahead, and they wouldn't surrender the lead , going on to win 3-1.

The only thing that needed work was the celebration. Baca seemed to respond like a player doing the 'not celebrating against a former team' thing, but La Maquina are the only team he's played for in Liga MX. Maybe he already was worried about where the strike would finish in the rankings. Worry no more, Rafa, your goal is the winner of  Goal 's Liga MX Goal of the Week.
