Lekhwiya midfielder pips Barcelona legend Xavi to be Qatar Stars League best passer

According to the Qatar Stars League, Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez, although coming close, was not the best passer of the 2016-17 campaign. 

Instead, Lekhwiya midfielder Luis Martin was the one who led the way in terms of average passes per game with a figure of 76.9.

The Qatari international's reliable distribution propelled the club to their fifth ever QSL title this season, notching up the most passes over the campaign as well.

Meanwhile, Xavi came in second with an average of 75.4 passes per game.The Al Sadd captain may not have reigned supreme on this occasion but did help his side to a domestic double in the Qatar & Emir Cup competitions.

Another Qatar international midfielder Karim Boudiaf finished in third place in the top passers run down. The Lekhwiya player, who is the second of four Red Knights players in the top 10 was ever present for his side this season, and his impressive passing average of 73.4 underlines yet another solid season.

Michael Laudrup was one of the finest passers in his day and his side Al Rayyan, despite failing to pick up any domestic honours this term, were represented among the best passers in the league by their South Korean midfielder Koh Myong-jin who notched up an average of 63.0 passes per game.
