Leicester City v Liverpool: Alisson on track for remarkable start

The Reds may have finally solved their long-running issue between the sticks

From Loris Karius' nightmare in the Champions League final to Simon Mignolet's recurring shockers, Liverpool's Achilles heel in recent seasons has been their goalkeeper.

But after shelling out a record fee for their new number one Alisson, the Reds may have finally some much-needed relief.

The Brazilian, helped by an admittedly kind Premier League schedule, has kept a clean sheet in each of his first three appearances for Liverpool.

Should he notch up another against Leicester on Saturday, Alisson will become just the fourth keeper in the competition's history to keep a clean sheet in their first four starts.

Facing a Foxes side without a suspended Jamie Vardy, Alisson is well placed to join Alex Manninger, Anders Lindegaard and Jose Reina by making an unblemished start to life in the Premier League.

While West Ham, Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion haven't offered the sternest of tests for the 25-year-old, he has pulled off six saves to date - with four of those coming from shots inside the box.

An away game at the King Power Stadium is historically a road bump for Liverpool however and Leicester could well be capable of taking Alisson off track.

Having won three of their last four home meetings against the Reds, Claude Puel's side will be eager to cash in on home ground advantage and claim three straight league wins.

They will however be without Vardy, who was shown a red card against Wolverhampton and is serving the final match of his three-game suspension.

After three games, Liverpool currently sit top of the Premier League on goal difference and have never in the competition's history started a season with four straight wins.

Key to securing that super start will be Mo Salah with the Reds winless in their past eight league matches where the Egyptian has failed to register a goal or assist.

Equally important will be Alisson, who after the nightmare finish of Karius' Reds career, is on course for a dream start to life with Liverpool.
