Leeds United and Nottingham Forest meet at Elland Road on Monday afternoon, 10 points apart and at opposite ends of the form table.

Forest were one point above their hosts in early November but have lost five of their last seven to drop into the bottom half and Mark Warburton has been sacked as manager with Gary Brazil taking temporary charge. The Whites meanwhile have climbed back into the play-off places, even if Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Birmingham limited their winning streak to four games.

Match odds

Leeds are 5/6 (1.83) favourites for a seventh home victory of the campaign, which would complete a league double over the East Midlanders, having won 2-0 at the City Ground back in August.

Forest drew for the first time this season just before Christmas in a 1-1 tie at Preston and are 5/2 (3.5) to get a point on their jaunt to West Yorkshire.

The 10/3 (4.33) quotes on an away win imply a likelihood of 23.1% and it's tough to foresee the visitors getting too much joy from this particular fixture.

The case for Leeds

In terms of finding a selection, Christiansen’s men should have the quality to unlock a Forest side that have shipped 15 goals in their last seven and lost 1-0 to strugglers Sunderland last time out.

The Tricky Trees have lost 3-1 on three occasions this season and a repeat is 13/1 (14.0), while the 4/1 (5.0) on a home win with Over 3.5 goals could be worth chancing as there is likely to be extra space in forward areas for the hosts here.

Players to watch

Kemar Roofe netted when Leeds won the reverse fixture and is 11/4 (3.75) to score in another victory for the West Yorkshire outfit, while attacking maestro Samuel Saiz is 21/10 (3.1) to score anytime.

Forest fans are calling for Ben Brereton to start up top and the academy graduate is 3/1 (4.0) to kick off 2018 with a goal, having netted twice in December.

Tips and Predictions

Our best bet is the 6/5 (2.20) on Leeds to win with Over 1.5 goals, which will land if they take three points with a scoreline other than 1-0: all bar two of Forest’s 14 defeats have come in that manner. With the visitors managerless, Leeds should have the edge and given the likelihood that this will be a game with plenty of chances in the final third for the hosts, taking the bigger price as opposed to a straight win bet makes plenty of appeal.
