Latest Premier League Odds: Manchester United 9/4 for a top four finish after Wembley win

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men claimed a 1-0 win over Tottenham to further enhance their chances of securing a Champions League spot this season

Manchester United claimed a fifth straight Premier League win under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as they beat Tottenham 1-0 at Wembley on Sunday.

bet365 have now cut Solskjaer's men to 9/4 (3.25) for a top four finish this term. That price was 14/1 (15.0) on the day the Norwegian took over.

The interim United boss equalled Sir Matt Busby's record of winning his first five league games in charge of the club as Marcus Rashford's first half goal proved the difference.

David de Gea Manchester United

David De Gea played a huge part in the victory with an inspired display to keep Spurs at bay. The 11 saves the Spaniard made was his second-best tally for the club and the most he's made in a top five European league game while also keeping a clean sheet.

While United remain six points behind fourth place, the stark improvement in their performances since Jose Mourinho's departure has been eye-catching to say the least.

That gap could well be narrowed further in the coming weeks too. Upcoming clashes against Brighton, Burnley, Leicester and Fulham mean United play no-one currently ranked higher than eighth place in the next month.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said, “Manchester United have overcome their most difficult hurdle to date under Solskjaer, albeit with a lot of it down to the brilliance of their goalkeeper, but three points at Spurs means they can now be classed as genuine top four contenders.”

Manchester United on the up - top four odds cut

Tottenham are 2/11 (1.18) to secure a Champions League place despite their second home league defeat of the campaign while Chelsea are available at 1/3 (1.33) after a narrow win over Newcastle kept their advantage over the chasing duo intact.

Arsenal's defeat at West Ham has seen Unai Emery's side slip to 11/2 (6.50) for a top four finish and United now sit level on points with the Gunners.

There’s a potentially pivotal London derby on Saturday as Chelsea (13/10) visit Arsenal (19/10). A draw between the pair is a 5/2 (3.50) chance with bet365.
