Kotoko shed light on Dauda transfer to Anderlecht

Asante Kotoko
The Porcupine Warriors management has cleared the air following reports their star striker joined the Belgian side in a $400,000 deal

Asante Kotoko have denied reports that striker Dauda Mohammed, who was transferred to Belgian side Anderlecht last week, fetched the $400,000 for the club.

The 19-year-old, who scored eight goals in the Ghana Premier League last season, signed a four-and-half-year contract, following a two-week trial.

Kotoko have revealed that their former youth product cost Anderlecht $250,000 but will receive add-ons based on his performance.

"If you check the contract well, the transfer money is $250,000 not $400,000 as speculated," a club statement read.

"This has to go on record. There will be other earnings but they are all conditional, for which reason we can’t say Dauda was transferred for $400,000."

"If he plays a particular number of matches or win the league title with Anderlecht or plays in the Champions League and others, there will be some entitlements per the contract. However, it’s not true that he was transferred for $400,000 fee.

‘’We want to put this out there so that the public will know the truth about the issue. This is to correct any misrepresentation in the order not to create problems for the club in the future’’ the statement added.

Kotoko have lined up Ashanti Gold striker Yakubu Mohammed as replacement for Dauda.
