Komphela not expecting too many changes from SuperSport United in Mbombela

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela doesn’t expect too many changes from SuperSport United, compared to the way they played last Saturday.

Back then United dumped Chiefs out of the Nedbank Cup on penalties.

“I don’t think much will change because what informs Stuart’s (Baxter, SuperSport coach) game today is that he knows we play through the middle. We overloaded the midfield and they played with a three through the middle,” Komphela told Goal.

The Amakhosi lost 5-3 on penalties after 120 minutes of playing time ended 1-1 at the FNB Stadium.

They now lock horns in the Premiership at the Mbombela Stadium this Saturday, with both sides coming off a contrasting week in fortunes.

United secured a 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits in midweek to revive their title chances, while the Glamour Boys stumbled to a 3-2 defeat away to Cape Town City.

Komphela admits they have to try and penetrate them more from the wide positions as they did in the Cup clash and dominate their fullbacks a lot more.

“We’ll have to go back and try and see with the game we play next, that he won’t change because they play a modern game.

“So, we need to play more on their side and isolate their fullbacks and try and see opportunities from wide positions,” Komphela said.

The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in November in the first round clash with goals coming from Thabo Mnyamane and George Lebese respectively.

Matsatsantsa will be without their head coach Baxter, as he is out with illness.
