Benjamin Mendy has jokingly asked Manchester City to keep him “a spot on the bench” while offering a positive injury update.
His activity on social media has endeared him to the City faithful, while his performances on the field were positive until suffering an untimely setback against Crystal Palace on September 23.
Knee ligament damage just five games into his Blues career forced him under the knife and was expected to keep him sidelined until April, but the 23-year-old full-back is already kicking a ball again.
The Frenchman will be desperate to return to action as soon as possible, having already outlined his domestic and international ambitions for the months ahead.
After suffering an unfortunate injury, Mendy told The Times: "I told Pep [Guardiola] after I got my results I would only have surgery if he promised me City would be in the Champions League semi-finals when I come back.
"That is our checkpoint. That is where we will meet again.”
He added: "I want to get back fit as soon as possible.
"You know what I'm like when I play with City, I always have a smile on my face and it's the same with my rehab."
