Kano Pillars will keep pushing, says Ibrahim Musa after Rivers United draw

Kano Pillars coach Ibrahim Musa says his side will continue to push for the Nigeria Professional League diadem despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Rivers United.

10-man Rivers United raced into the lead after 12 minutes through Osita Henry Chikere before Junior Lokosa equalised for the hosts in the 49th minute.

Despite the visitors playing a man less after Newman was sent off for a second caution, the Pride of Rivers held their nerves to earn a vital away point.

Coach Musa explained why his men failed to secure maximum points at home, while promising that his team will keep pushing until the last day of the season.

“We lost the game owing to poor tactical ability in front of goal,” Musa told NPFL website.

“I feel we were unlucky not to grab maximum points, but we are still poised for a top-three finish.

“We did our best but couldn’t achieve our target, but we will keep the push until the last day of the contest and hopefully something good is on the card for us.”

With their home draw, Pillars are third in the log with 38 points from 24 games.
