Kaizer Chiefs will find it difficult to lift PSL title – Maritzburg United’s Tinkler

Maritzburg United coach Eric Tinkler believes Kaizer Chiefs will not have an easy challenge when it comes to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title race.

The Team of Choice boss is confident his men will have a say in the title race as they still have to face tile contenders in the form of Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits.

Speaking after their 1-0 win over Polokwane City, a victory which saw them move up to the fifth spot on the log, the former Bafana Bafana midfielder is confident his troops will continue with their winning run.

“We will have a say on who will win the league title. I don’t think it’s over now because we will play the title contenders and Chiefs will still play against them,” Tinkler told the media as quoted by Isolezwe.

“I think that will benefit Chiefs but that can still hurt them. Things will be very difficult for Chiefs. They must ensure they continue to win their games.

“In our remaining games, we still have to play against Sundowns, Pirates, and Wits. We want to collect maximum points from those games because we are not here to make favours.”

Having defeated the PSL log leaders, the Team of Choice will be chasing their 11th win when they meet Black Leopards on Saturday, March 21 away from home.

Taking a look at the PSL table, the KwaZulu-Natal midlands-based-club occupies the fifth spot with 39 points from 24 league matches.

Although they have lost their previous matches to Masandawana and the Clever Boys, the Telkom knockout Cup finalists will look to collect maximum points for them to push for a top-four finish.
