La Roja are expected to start this campaign on a winning note but will have their work cut out against a rock-solid Japanese side

Back-to-back Copa America champions, Chile, start their title defence when they face Japan at the Estadio do Morumbi on Tuesday.

Hajime Moriyasu’s men have been in scintillating form as they are undefeated in 14 of their last 16 matches in all competitions (W12 D2) since their World Cup exit last year. The guest nation are tagged as underdogs at whooping odds of  (9.00) with Bet365.

Meanwhile, Reinaldo Rueda’s side hasn’t been impressive of late, recording three wins in their last seven games (D1 L3), as well as failing to keep a clean sheet on six occasions and conceding 12 goals. The same outfit is also without a win in their last two meetings with the Asian giants.

As reigning champions, Chile have recorded just one defeat in their previous 12 outings in the Copa America (W8 D3), and are valued at odds of  (1.40) to kick-start this current edition in Brazil with a victory.

A stalemate is offered at odds of (4.20) with the same bet firm.

Japan are unbeaten at halftime in nine of their last 10 outings and a similar outcome is valued at  (1.80) with Bet365 .
