Islam Slimani ‘happy’ after leading Fenerbahce to first Europa League win

Islam Slimani is ‘happy’ after leading Fenerbahce to their first Europa League victory this season.

The 30-year-old scored a brace to propel the Yellow Canaries to a 2-0 win over Spartak Trnava on Thursday evening.

The win helped them to the second spot in Group D standings with three points from two games.

Following the victory, the Leicester City loanee has taken to the social media to express his feeling while also applauding the fans for their show of solidarity.

“I’m very happy about [the] important win, big thank you to our supporters who were amazing and loud as always,” Slimani posted on Instagram.

The former Sporting Lisbon forward has scored three goals in eight games across all competitions since his arrival at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

Slimani will now shift his attention to their next league game against Antalyaspor on Sunday.
