Jamshedpur FC's Subrata Paul wants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan to play top league ISL

Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper Subrata Paul has called on the Kolkata giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan to make their way into the Indian Super League (ISL).

The I-League clubs from Kolkata are reportedly in talks for an entry into the ISL, following the footsteps of Bengaluru FC who switched the playing field last season.

"I always want East Bengal and Mohun Bagan to play the top league. ISL is the top league currently. Both clubs have a great history. Hope they will join the league next year and it will become more competitive," said the Jamshedpur custodian.

Jamshedpur FC narrowly missed out on a playoff spot in their debut season in ISL. The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who won the 'Golden Glove' last season, is hopeful of a good finish in the league this time around.

"We have a good team. Great combination of senior and junior players. Our preseason was good. We have many junior players like Gaurav Mukhi, Mobashir Rahman and Vishal Das. Hopefully, we will do well this time."

The Men of Steel have roped in Australian striker Tim Cahill as their marquee player ahead of the fifth season. Subrata believes he will make a huge impact.

"Tim Cahill is one of the biggest signings in ISL history. He is a legend. The junior players can learn (from him). Tim Cahill will obviously have a great impact on the team. He is a top man according to me and very humble."

"The 2011 Asian Cup match against Australia is one of the biggest matches I have played in my career. We lost 4-0. Whenever I try to improve my game I watch that match. Tim scored two goals in that match."
