ISL 2017-18: 'Berbatov doesn't mingle, Wes Brown is friendly' - Kerala Blasters' Prasanth Karuthadathkuni

The youngster revealed that the star signing remains silent off-the-field and doesn't speak a lot with others in the squad...

Two young players of the Kerala Blasters squad, forward Prasanth Karuthadathkuni and goalkeeper Sujith, have said that the team's star player Dimitar Berbatov is a silent man outside the football field. The pair were talking to Manorama News for their Kerala Blasters special feature 'Blasting out with Blasters'

The topic came into the discussion when the youngsters were asked to name a player who spends the most time in the gymnasium. Both players agreed that it is Dimitar Berbatov and Prasanth followed it up with an explanation, "[He usually says] just a hi or a hello. Other than that, he doesn't mingle like other foreigners in the squad. If we ask something to him, we might get an answer. That's all."

On the other hand, the other star foreign player for the Yellow Army, former Manchester United defender Wes Brown seems to have struck the right chord with the youngsters in the team.

"[Wes Brown] is very friendly. We can share anything with him. He's extremely friendly and funny," said the Calicut-born winger.

Berbatov, on his arrival, stated, "This is my role here. To teach the young players who have a good potential to grow. The only thing they need is someone to guide them in the right direction."

After Prasanth's revelation, fans will be hoping he is doing his talking on the field and in training.

The Bulgarian striker has failed to get into his rhythm on the field for Kerala Blasters. He was employed in a deeper role in midfield by Rene Meulensteen and was taken off at half-time by David James in their last match against FC Pune City. An injury layoff in December hasn't helped the forward and fans will be hoping he can contribute to the team in their upcoming games.

Kerala Blasters recently parted ways with Meulensteen who was instrumental in bringing both Dimitar Berbatov and Wes Brown to Kerala. Englishman David James replaced Meulensteen at the helm and started his tenure with a 1-1 draw against FC Pune City in Kochi. The team will now take on Delhi Dynamos at the JLN Stadium in Delhi on January 10.
