Ighalo stars as Changchun Yatai edge past Guangzhou Evergrande

Odion Ighalo continued his impressive form as Changchun Yatai battled to a 3-2 victory over Guangzhou Evergrande in Saturday’s Chinese Super League encounter.

After helping the Changchun Stadium outfit secure a point in their last tie against Shanghai Shenhua, the forward provided the much-needed assist for the winning goal against Fabio Cannavaro’s men at Changchun's People Stadium.

Rui Yu opened the scoring for Chen Jingang’s men in the 17th minute before Liyu Yang levelled proceedings for the Southern China Tigers.

In the 43rd minute, Ricardo Goulart gave his side the lead for the first time in the encounter.

Long Tan brought Yatai back into the game in the 84th minute before scoring the matchwinner at the death off an Ighalo assist.

Changchun Yatai now have 21 points from 17 games and are placed ninth in the log.

The former Watford striker have featured in all the games and has 12 goals to his credit. He will hope to return to scoring when they take on Beijing Renhe in their next fixture on Wednesday.
