Gor Mahia goalkeeper Peter Odhiambo has suffered a double tragedy following the death of his mother and the brother.

Odhiambo lost his brother last week through kidney complications only for the tragedy to strike three days later, following the passing of his mother.

Odhiambo missed Gor Mahia’s 1-0 victory against Sony Sugar on Wednesday after he was informed of the sad news.

Shaban Odhonji was drafted into the squad that took on Sony Sugar. “My child was sick and l asked for permission to give the situation some attention and l was allowed but later, l had to join the team after learning that Peter lost his mother and brother just days before and couldn’t travel.

"There was no way the team would go to Kisumu with just one keeper (Shaban), it’s dangerous because if anything happens to the keeper, the team can be in problems. l had to go. Our sincere condolences to our brother and we will stand with him all through,” Oluoch said.

Gor Mahia players captain Haron Shakava also joined the K’Ogalo fraternity to condole with keeper Odhiambo.

“It’s truly a sad moment and as players, we feel what one of us (Peter) is going through. Our condolences to him and the family. Let him be strong we are there for him."

Burial arrangements are in place and the brother will be buried on June 9 and the mother a week later (on June 16), in Ugenya, Siaya County.
