Ghanaian trio close to joining Al Qadsia in Kuwait

Wafa captain Gideon Waja, Berekum Chelsea’s Stephen Sarfo and Felix Addo of Elmina Sharks have arrived in Kuwait to sign a two-year contract each with Al Qadsia ahead of the 2017-18 season.

The trio, who were part of Ghana's squad that won the 2017 Wafu tournament, were initially reported to have been offered a two-week trial but chief executive officer of Mkysports Management, Micky Saddiq, who brokered the deal, says it’s only left with personal terms and the players will have their medical on Thursday.

"Stephen Sarfo, Gideon Waja and Felix Addo are not on trial in Kuwait. They are signing an outright deal after their medical tomorrow," Sadiq was quoted as saying by Ghanasoccernet.

"They were spotted training because for the past ten days they have not trained [since the Ghana Premier League is over]. Hence their slight exercise. It is not a trial with the club.

"They are negotiating their personal terms ahead of their contracts, reason why they are here in Kuwait. They are not on trial because they are not trial players.

"The club saw enough of their performance during the Wafu Cup of Nations and they don't need to come on trial again before they are signed," he added.

Waja guided Wafa to finish second in the Ghana Premier League last season while Sarfo emerged topscorer of the Wafu tournament.

Ghana international Rashid Sumaila is already part of Qadsia first team and was adjudged the club's best performer last season.
